Mold Remediation
Mold contamination in your Arvada home is more than an aesthetic concern. Left untreated, mold colonies release mycotoxins that compromise indoor air quality and can trigger respiratory illness, allergic reactions, and long-term health complications including asthma exacerbation, chronic sinusitis, and immune system suppression. Families with children, elderly members, or immunocompromised household members face elevated risk from prolonged mold exposure. Atlas Contracting & Environmental Solutions delivers comprehensive mold remediation services across Arvada, targeting the root cause of every infestation rather than treating surface symptoms alone.
Our technicians begin every project with advanced moisture mapping using thermal imaging and hygrometers. This diagnostic approach pinpoints hidden moisture sources behind walls, beneath flooring, and inside HVAC systems that feed fungal growth. We identify the specific moisture pathways—whether from roof leaks, foundation seepage, bathroom exhaust backup, or condensation from poor ventilation—so that remediation addresses the cause, not just the symptom. By identifying and eliminating the water intrusion pathway first, we ensure that remediation results are lasting and that mold does not return after treatment.
Toxic Mold Targeting
Full-scale mold removal targeting toxic black mold (Stachybotrys) and common household fungi including Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Cladosporium. Our team classifies every species present before selecting the appropriate remediation protocol for your property.
Moisture Source Diagnosis
Advanced moisture mapping to identify the root cause of mold growth in Arvada basements and attics. We use infrared thermography and probe-style meters to detect moisture trapped inside wall cavities, subfloor assemblies, and structural framing that visual inspection alone cannot reveal.
HEPA Spore Elimination
HEPA vacuuming and antimicrobial treatments to ensure complete spore elimination. Negative air machines equipped with hospital-grade filtration scrub airborne spores during the entire remediation process, protecting both your family and our crew from cross-exposure.
Containment Protocols
Containment strategies that prevent mold cross-contamination to unaffected areas of your home. We construct physical barriers using polyethylene sheeting, maintain negative air pressure within the work zone, and seal HVAC registers to stop spore migration through ductwork.
Wood Structure Treatment
Specialized treatment for wood-based mold growth in tight spaces common in Arvada's residential architecture. We address rafters, joists, sheathing, and rim boards where condensation and poor ventilation create ideal conditions for fungal colonization. Each structural member is individually assessed, treated, and sealed.
Dry Ice Blasting
Dry ice blasting and abrasive cleaning for deep-seated mold in structural timbers. This non-toxic, chemical-free method flash-freezes and removes mold at the cellular level without damaging the underlying wood grain. It is especially effective on exposed framing in unfinished attics and crawl spaces where traditional scrubbing cannot reach.
Moisture Barrier Installation
Installation of moisture barriers to prevent future fungal outbreaks. After remediation, we encapsulate crawl spaces with reinforced vapor barriers, improve attic ventilation with ridge and soffit vent systems, and apply antimicrobial coatings to treated surfaces. These preventive measures dramatically reduce the likelihood of mold recurrence in Arvada's semi-arid climate, where seasonal temperature swings drive condensation inside poorly insulated structures.
Specialty Services
Attics and crawl spaces present unique remediation challenges that demand specialized expertise. Limited access, confined work areas, and proximity to critical structural framing require equipment and techniques that general contractors are not equipped to handle. Atlas technicians are trained specifically for enclosed-space mold remediation, carrying OSHA-compliant respiratory protection and deploying compact negative air units designed for low-clearance environments. Our crew brings experience from hundreds of attic and crawl space projects across the Arvada area, understanding the specific vulnerability patterns of each neighborhood.
Arvada homes built before 2000 are particularly susceptible to attic mold caused by bathroom exhaust fans venting directly into the attic cavity rather than through the roof perimeter. We see this configuration consistently in neighborhoods across Arvada, from Ralston Valley to Standley Lake to Olde Town, and it reliably produces heavy mold growth on roof sheathing, rafters, and insulation. Bathroom exhaust fans expel warm, moisture-laden air into the attic, where it condenses on cool surfaces and fuels mold colonization. Our crew corrects the ventilation deficiency as part of every attic remediation project, rerouting exhaust through the roof or soffit and eliminating the moisture source permanently.
Crawl space mold is equally prevalent in Arvada properties with exposed earth floors, deteriorated vapor barriers, or insufficient cross-ventilation. Seasonal snowmelt, groundwater fluctuation, and high humidity levels create persistent dampness that supports year-round mold growth on floor joists, subfloor panels, and rim boards. Atlas addresses these conditions with full crawl space encapsulation using heavy-duty vapor barriers, sump pump and dehumidifier installation, and drainage correction when groundwater is the culprit. We've transformed hundreds of moldy Arvada crawl spaces into dry, protected zones that support healthy indoor air quality for decades to come.
Every mold remediation project follows a structured, transparent process designed to protect your health, your property, and your investment.
1
We perform professional air and surface sampling with third-party lab analysis. Thermal imaging reveals hidden moisture behind walls and above ceilings. You receive a detailed report showing mold species, spore counts, and affected zones before any work begins.
2
Physical containment barriers isolate the work area. HEPA air scrubbers run continuously while our crew removes contaminated materials, treats structural surfaces with antimicrobial agents, and eliminates the moisture source that caused the growth.
3
Post-remediation clearance testing confirms spore levels are within safe thresholds. We install vapor barriers, improve ventilation, and apply preventive coatings to ensure mold does not return. Your clearance report is available for insurance and real estate purposes.
Prevention & Maintenance
Mold remediation is only half the battle. Once contamination is removed, preventing regrowth requires ongoing attention to moisture control and ventilation. Atlas provides comprehensive prevention strategies tailored to Arvada's climate and your home's specific vulnerabilities, ensuring that mold does not return after treatment.
Arvada experiences significant seasonal humidity swings. Winter months bring indoor condensation as cold outdoor air meets warm interior surfaces, while late spring and early summer moisture from snowmelt and afternoon thunderstorms can overwhelm inadequate drainage systems. Our prevention approach addresses both seasonal and chronic moisture sources: we improve attic ventilation, install or repair crawl space encapsulation, upgrade bathroom exhaust venting, and install dehumidifiers in high-risk zones.
After remediation, Atlas provides homeowners with a detailed maintenance guide covering routine inspections, HVAC filter replacement schedules, and early warning signs of moisture problems. Many clients also benefit from our annual moisture assessment service, which detects emerging issues before they progress to visible mold growth. This proactive approach has earned Atlas a reputation for delivering lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes.
Ventilation Optimization
Proper airflow is critical in Arvada's variable climate. We upgrade attic ventilation with ridge vents and soffit vents, correct bathroom exhaust fans to vent outside the envelope, and install kitchen range hood ducting that prevents moisture blowback into living spaces.
Moisture Barriers & Encapsulation
Crawl space encapsulation with 6-mil polyethylene vapor barriers is one of the most effective long-term mold preventives. Combined with a sump pump and dehumidifier, encapsulation eliminates the persistent humidity that feeds fungal growth in below-grade zones.
Drainage & Water Management
Groundwater intrusion and roof leaks are mold's primary food sources. We evaluate grading, gutter systems, and foundation drainage to prevent water from entering your home, and we install perimeter drains and sump systems where needed to manage subsurface water.
Moisture Monitoring & Maintenance
We provide homeowners with a custom maintenance plan and annual moisture assessments using the same diagnostic tools (thermal imaging and hygrometers) that identified the original problem. Early detection prevents expensive remediation by addressing moisture before mold gains a foothold.

We had a roof leak in our kitchen caused by a roofer. Rob came out right away and assessed the issue and worked with myself and the roofer. That day he had made a plan for how the job would go, and began setting up equipment to keep my family safe. He walked me through every step of how the job would go and kept my husband and I informed throughout the process. He made sure that the toddler and newborn in my home would be safe throughout the entire demo process. I cannot recommend this company enough.

This is an honest place. There are so many disreputable companies out there in this industry, but Atlas is not one of them. Quick work, proper abatement to prevent contamination, and friendly service all come with the fairly priced Atlas contract. Nobody wants to have this work done because it usually means things have gone sideways in your home. That said, if you do, call Atlas Contracting and Environmental Solutions; the company is ACES!!!

Common questions from Arvada homeowners about mold testing, removal costs, timelines, and insurance coverage.
Typical residential mold remediation projects in Arvada range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the affected area size, depth of contamination, and accessibility of the affected zone (attic remediation costs differ from basement or living area work). We provide free inspections with transparent, itemized estimates before any work begins, and we work with homeowners' insurance adjusters to maximize claim coverage when mold results from a covered water event.
Surface cleaning and repainting are often temporary solutions that mask the problem without addressing the underlying moisture source. If mold has penetrated into drywall, paint-over approaches allow spores to continue multiplying inside the wall cavity, eventually breaking through again. Professional remediation removes contaminated drywall and treats the moisture source, preventing regrowth and protecting your home's structural integrity.
Yes—DIY mold cleaning without proper containment and respiratory protection spreads spores throughout your home, potentially contaminating unaffected areas and exposing your family to higher mycotoxin levels. Professional mold remediation uses negative air pressure, HEPA filtration, and physical barriers to contain the work zone, while addressing the moisture source rather than just the visible mold. This comprehensive approach ensures long-lasting results and prevents health complications.
Standard residential mold remediation typically takes 1 to 3 days, depending on the contamination extent and affected area size. However, drying time for structural materials after treatment may extend the total project duration to 5-7 days. We establish a clear timeline during the inspection and keep you updated on progress throughout the remediation process.
Many homeowners' insurance policies cover mold removal if the mold results from a sudden, covered water event such as a burst pipe or roof leak. However, coverage for mold caused by chronic moisture issues or poor ventilation is typically excluded. Atlas works directly with insurance adjusters to maximize your claim coverage and can provide the documentation and clearance testing insurers require.
Common signs of black mold include musty odors, visible dark or greenish spotting on surfaces, water stains, and unexplained respiratory symptoms like coughing or wheezing. You may also notice high humidity levels in basements or attics, condensation on windows, or soft, discolored patches on drywall. If you detect any of these signs, professional testing is the best way to confirm the presence and extent of mold contamination.
Yes—we provide professional air quality testing and surface sampling using standardized protocols. We collect samples from suspected problem areas and submit them to third-party certified labs for unbiased analysis. Lab results identify the mold species present and spore concentrations, giving you objective data about your home's indoor air quality and guiding the scope of remediation.
