Certified Removal
Asbestos remains one of the most dangerous materials found in older Arvada properties. When disturbed during renovation, repair, or demolition, asbestos-containing materials release microscopic fibers that cause serious respiratory disease, mesothelioma, and lung cancer. Atlas Contracting & Environmental Solutions provides comprehensive asbestos abatement services throughout Arvada, combining decades of hazardous materials expertise with strict regulatory compliance to protect your family, tenants, and workforce.
Our Arvada asbestos removal team holds EPA Lead-Safe Certification (No. NAT-F222667) and maintains full compliance with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Regulation No. 8. Every project begins with thorough identification of asbestos-containing materials — from popcorn ceilings and vinyl floor tiles to pipe insulation, roofing felt, and joint compound — using accredited laboratory analysis. This precision avoids unnecessary abatement while ensuring every hazard is addressed.
Identification & Containment
Comprehensive identification and containment of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in Arvada residential and commercial properties. Our inspectors collect bulk samples from suspect materials and submit them to NVLAP-accredited laboratories for polarized light microscopy (PLM) analysis. Positive results trigger a detailed abatement scope that maps every affected area, estimates fiber concentrations, and establishes containment boundaries before any physical work begins.
Popcorn Ceiling & Floor Tile
Specialized popcorn ceiling removal and floor tile abatement using HEPA-filtered negative air pressure environments. Arvada homes built between the 1950s and early 1980s frequently contain chrysotile asbestos in textured ceilings and 9×9 or 12×12 vinyl-asbestos floor tiles. Our crews erect full polyethylene containment barriers, establish negative pressure with HEPA-filtered air scrubbers, and remove material using controlled wet methods that prevent fiber release into occupied areas.
Regulatory Compliance
Strict adherence to CDPHE Regulation No. 8 and local Arvada safety codes to prevent airborne fiber contamination. Colorado requires a ten-day advance notification for regulated asbestos projects, proper worker certification, and continuous air monitoring throughout abatement. Atlas handles every regulatory requirement — from filing the CDPHE notification to maintaining daily project logs and ensuring personal air monitoring for all workers on site.
Decontamination & Disposal
Full decontamination of work areas and legal disposal of hazardous waste at certified facilities. After removal, our team wet-wipes and HEPA-vacuums every surface within the containment zone, followed by a visual inspection and aggressive air sampling. Waste is double-bagged in labeled, leak-tight containers and transported by licensed haulers to approved landfills that accept regulated asbestos-containing waste material (RACM).
Our Process
Atlas follows a disciplined four-phase remediation process refined over hundreds of residential and commercial asbestos projects across the Denver metro area. Each phase builds on the last, ensuring that no hazardous material is left behind and that your Arvada property passes final air clearance testing on the first attempt. From the initial phone call to the post-abatement clearance report, our project managers keep you informed with daily progress updates and photographic documentation.
Residential projects in Arvada typically range from popcorn ceiling removal in a single room to whole-house abatement before a major renovation. Commercial projects include tenant improvement buildouts, school facility upgrades, and pre-demolition surveys for older industrial buildings along Wadsworth Boulevard and Ralston Road. Regardless of scope, every Atlas project follows the same rigorous protocol — no shortcuts, no deviations, no compromise on safety.
Phase 1 — Site Inspection
Initial site inspection and material sampling to confirm asbestos presence. Our certified inspector walks every accessible area of your Arvada property — attic spaces, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, and living areas — collecting bulk samples from any material suspected of containing asbestos. Samples ship to an accredited lab, and results typically return within two to three business days. If asbestos is confirmed, we prepare a detailed scope of work and cost estimate before any abatement begins.
Phase 2 — Containment Setup
Establishment of critical barriers and high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration. Before any asbestos is disturbed, our crew seals the work area with 6-mil polyethylene sheeting, covers HVAC registers, and installs HEPA-filtered negative air units that maintain at least −0.02 inches of water column pressure differential. This containment prevents fibers from migrating to clean areas of your Arvada home or building during the removal process.
Phase 3 — Wet Removal
Wet-method removal techniques to minimize dust and fiber release. All asbestos-containing materials are thoroughly saturated with amended water (water mixed with a surfactant to improve penetration) before removal. Our workers, equipped with powered air-purifying respirators and full Tyvek suits, carefully strip the material and immediately bag it in labeled, leak-tight disposal containers. Continuous air monitoring throughout removal confirms that fiber levels remain below the OSHA permissible exposure limit.
Phase 4 — Air Clearance
Post-remediation air clearance testing to ensure the structure is safe for re-entry. After all asbestos material is removed, bagged, and staged for transport, our team performs a thorough visual inspection followed by aggressive air sampling using phase contrast microscopy (PCM). The containment remains sealed until the independent laboratory confirms that airborne fiber concentrations are below 0.01 fibers per cubic centimeter — well within safe re-occupancy thresholds established by the EPA.
Local Expertise
Arvada's housing stock includes thousands of homes built during the 1950s through 1970s — the peak decades of asbestos use in residential construction. Materials such as popcorn ceilings, pipe wrap insulation, floor tile mastic, boiler gaskets, and cement siding were manufactured with chrysotile, amosite, or crocidolite asbestos fibers. While intact and undisturbed asbestos may not pose an immediate health risk, any renovation, plumbing repair, electrical upgrade, or demolition activity can release fibers into the air.
Colorado state law (CDPHE Regulation No. 8, Part B) requires property owners to conduct an asbestos inspection before any renovation or demolition that may disturb more than a threshold quantity of suspect material. Failure to comply can result in civil penalties, project stop-work orders, and personal liability for worker or tenant exposure. Atlas Contracting navigates these regulatory requirements on your behalf — filing notifications, coordinating inspections, and ensuring that your Arvada renovation project proceeds on schedule and within compliance.
Beyond regulatory compliance, professional asbestos abatement protects property value. Disclosed asbestos in a home inspection can delay or derail a real estate transaction. By abating identified materials before listing, Arvada homeowners eliminate a common buyer objection and demonstrate responsible stewardship of the property. Atlas provides detailed documentation — laboratory reports, abatement scope, waste manifests, and clearance results — that transfers to future owners as proof of completed remediation.
Arvada neighborhoods like Olde Town, Ralston Valley, West Woods, and the areas surrounding Standley Lake contain some of the oldest residential construction in Jefferson County. Many of these homes have undergone partial renovations over the decades without proper asbestos surveys — meaning hazardous materials may be concealed beneath newer finishes. Whether you are planning a kitchen remodel along Grandview Avenue, updating a rental property near Arvada Square, or preparing a commercial space on Wadsworth Boulevard for new tenants, an asbestos inspection is the essential first step to protecting occupants and staying compliant with Colorado law. Atlas Contracting has completed hundreds of asbestos abatement projects across the Arvada community — contact us today for a free on-site assessment.

We had a roof leak in our kitchen caused by a roofer. Rob came out right away and assessed the issue and worked with myself and the roofer. That day he had made a plan for how the job would go, and began setting up equipment to keep my family safe. He walked me through every step of how the job would go and kept my husband and I informed throughout the process. He made sure that the toddler and newborn in my home would be safe throughout the entire demo process. I cannot recommend this company enough.

This is an honest place. There are so many disreputable companies out there in this industry, but Atlas is not one of them. Quick work, proper abatement to prevent contamination, and friendly service all come with the fairly priced Atlas contract. Nobody wants to have this work done because it usually means things have gone sideways in your home. That said, if you do, call Atlas Contracting and Environmental Solutions; the company is ACES!!!

Asbestos abatement costs in Arvada typically range from $5 to $15 per square foot for popcorn ceiling removal, with full-home projects varying based on material type, accessibility, and total square footage. Atlas provides free on-site estimates for Arvada residents so you get an accurate quote before any work begins.
Homes built before 1980 in Arvada commonly contain asbestos in insulation, floor tiles, textured ceilings, and pipe wrap. The only definitive way to confirm asbestos is through professional testing — visual inspection alone cannot determine whether a material contains asbestos fibers. Atlas offers fast turnaround on lab-verified sampling.
